Cardiff five-piece Baby Queens return with new single Hear Me, taken from their recent self-titled debut album. With an evocative, hypnotic guitar line accompanied by a funky rhythm section that could be from the Motor City itself, the track shows off the group’s diversity, with an altogether different vibe to previous track Tired of Love.
Band member Cara Elise explains: “Musically it’s our take on Motown driven by a harder bassline more akin to Jungle.”
Vanity Jay adds that the song is about wanting the true person inside to be heard: “For example you could be working a 9-5, but secretly be an amazing dancer. Or someone who’s a glass collector in a bar, when really they are a brilliant chef, but no one knows because that individual has never voiced it and the rest of the world doesn’t know. It’s just wanting to be heard and to be understood.”
Baby Queens play a number of live dates in March and April, including Stroud, Gloucestershire (4 March), and London (9 March).
