There’s an eclectic mix of music coming to what must be one of the final festivals of the year, SeptemberFest at Donington Park, Leicestershire, this weekend. From the brand new – including loads of local up-and-coming acts – through to some unashamedly retro and very familiar names, it would be hard not to find something you love here.
We thought we’d pick out five artists not to miss if you are planning on heading along. Tickets available here.
Lauren Faith: A London singer destined for big things we think… check out slick pop tune Rush, and also Let Them Talk.
Lauren Faith – Rush
There are plenty of influences detectable within the raw and energetic sound of indie-rock band Modern Comforts, but there’s certainly a touch of Arctic Monkeys about them. They’re certainly worth checking out live at SeptemberFest.
Modern Comforts – Easy Tiger
It wasn’t just because of the radio-friendly hook-filled songs that Razorlight shot to fame during the Noughties – they’ve always been an impressive live proposition and evidence suggests time has done nothing but enhance their performances. But can you believe this tune is 11 years old?!?!
Razorlight – America
Expect an energetic performance from Neverise, a loud and proud five-piece from Nottingham and Burton-on-Trent. Painted Gold – the title track from their debut EP – gives you a taste of what you’ll hear…. only louder.
Neverise – Painted Gold
Now you remember right at the beginning we said the SeptemberFest line-up was eclectic…. well there’s an absolute stack of 90s names on the bill including the likes of East 17, S Club, A1 and Whigfield – yes Whigfield! [Hope they don’t put her on the Friday night schedule…. would seem a bit of a shame]. But no, the one we picked out is this from Liberty X, who always just about escaped the fury we would normally bestow on anyone who dared to cover this classic Mantronix song… by doing a decent job of it to be fairhere’s Although just in case you feel the need, here’s the original.
Liberty X – Got to Have Your Love
