This week’s release of the third album from experimental synth-pop mavericks Django Django was one of early 2018’s most anticipated moments and Marble Skies has delivered just the kind of inventive and unpredictable new directions that we had hoped for.

It feels as if a more carefree, pop-focused leaning was the aim for the latest album, so Surface To Air must be one that the band are particularly satisfied with. It’s a light and breezy tune with a dancehall edge and is particularly startling for any Django fan’s ears for the presence of female vocals – smoothly delivered by Self Esteem – aka Rebecca Taylor of Slow Club.

There’s plenty more from the album that’s ripe for release too though – look out for Champagne which is bound to be one of the LP’s breakouts.
