Here’s just the kind of dreamy, uplifting kind of tune that we wanted to hear today. Sober is the first release of 2018 for Brighton-based Island Club.
The band has already racked up over 2m streams thanks to the indie-pop perfecton of previous releases Let Go, Paper Kiss and Irresistible. But slowing the tempo a little, Sober is beautiful psychedelic ballad. Of the tune, the band say: “It is about falling in love for the first time. When two people have an obsession for one another it really brings excitement and happiness into your lives. It’s also very sobering.”
The release comes ahead of a major hometown show supporting fellow Brighton indie-pop kings & queen Fickle Friends at Brighton’s Concorde 2 on 19 March – tickets here.
