There may still be well over a couple of months to go, but we’re getting proper excited about the Dot To Dot festival already for two main reasons. Firstly, last year’s event absolutely blew us away – our day spent flitting from one venue to another the whole day long was one of our most musically uplifting few hours of the year, and we can’t wait to do it all over again, exhausting though it was!
Secondly, the first phase line-up already includes some absolute corkers who we can’t wait to see. We’re praying to avoid schedule clashes on some of the names on our first look at artists not-to-be-missed:
Funk-infused pop that is so absolutely certain to get into your brain that resistance is futile, Bad Sounds will be one of the first names on Sync’s festival hitlist. The Bristol leg of the Dot To Dot roadshow will be something of a home fixture for the Bath-based group.
Bad Sounds – Hot Head Chippenham
Looking and sounding like no other, Gus Dapperton promises to be one of the most captivating acts on the bill. He has steadily built-up an immense underground following seemingly without much in the way of mainsteam airplay or plugging, but is bound to go huge sooner rather than later. Playing songs from his debut album Yellow And Such, his set will be most certainly be one to get there early for.
Gus Dapperton – I’m Just Snacking
Having recently completed a European tour in support of alt-J, Marika Hackman has some unique material to select from across her two albums to date – We Slept At Last and I’m Not Your Man. Her alt-folk material is anything but conventional, and her music is essential listening.
Marika Hackman – Boyfriend
Tropical Mancunian trio Cassia will bring their uplifting, sunny disposition to proceedings. The weather had better not deliver anything other than warm sunshine for their shining set.
Cassia – Weekender
Pale Waves have been much hyped in the past 12 months or so, but with good reason. Their particular brand of indie-pop is faultless, inventive, and purposeful, and this will without doubt be one of Dot To Dot’s most in-demand slots.
Pale Waves – The Tide
