Having released their fourth album, Combat Sports just a few days ago, indie-rockers, The Vaccines returned to Bournemouth’s O2 Academy as part of their current UK tour in support of its release.

The band stormed on stage to massive cheers from fans of all ages filling the venue. Their high-energy set kicked off with new release Nightclub, followed by popular older songs, Wreckin’ Bar (Ra, Ra, Ra) and Teenage Icon.

The band reeled off track-after-track with minimal talk in between. The crowd were extremely energetic for the most part of the evening – cheering, singing and dancing along to all the hits including the incredibly infectious Norgaard to which the crowd went mental, bouncing and singing along, whilst lead singer Justin Young interacted with them. The setlist also included favourites, Wetsuit, and Handsome, as well as tracks from the new album, including Surfing in the Sky and Take It Easy.

The set ended with the classic, If You Wanna to which the crowd erupted with energy with just the first drum beat. This was followed by one of their newest releases, I Can’t Quit and an encore of three songs, closing with All In White.

The band are obviously passionate about performing together and they clearly feed off the energy within their audience. The Vaccines put on an hit-packed, super-lively show, using every inch of the stage in a performance that proved how far this band has become established as a hugely impressive live act.
