Collecting an accolade such as the BBC Sound of 2018 title could all too easily have been a poison chalice to the career of 21-year-old Sigrid. Instead, she appears to be further accelerating her impressive rise with a succession of tracks each offering something significantly different to the last.

The Norwegian singer-songwriter made a big impact with her debut single Don’t Kill My Vibe early last year, and has followed that up with singles Plot Twist, Strangers, Raw and I Don’t Want To Know. Latest track High Five is one of her best. It is unashamedly pop, but it ebbs and flows in a way that is anything but formulaic pop. It’s a song about friendships, and the accompanying video – shot in Mexico – pays homage to films including High School Musical and E.T. among others!

Sigrid will be appearing at a host of festivals over the summer, including Reading/Leeds in August, Manchester’s Parklife in June, and she also has a sold-out date at London’s Somerset House in July.
