It’s been a long-hot summer for most of the UK so festival season has been mercifully free of the scourge of downpours and mudbath-like fields… or at least that was the case until the final day of this year’s Camp Bestival. Rob Da Bank’s family-focussed festival clearly drew the short straw weather-wise as the final day had to be cancelled on safety grounds due to the strong winds and heavy rain making the arena areas unusable.

But the Sunday disappointment did not stop the festival up to that point being a huge success, with some top performances from big names and small. Highlights included headliners Clean Bandit, as well as the remarkably talented Rae Morris, and livewire indie-kid Declan McKenna.

There was plenty of retro on the bill too, including Stereo MCs, Orbital, Jesus Jones and Pop Will Eat Itself. Most remarkable moment of the Friday night however came during Rick Astley‘s set when he introduced TV cook Mary Berry onto the stage for a stint on the drums. No, we’re not making that up!

Upcoming this weekend is the event’s sister event Bestival, also due to take place at Dorset’s beautiful Lulworth Castle… and thankfully the sun is set to shine throughout this time around.
