On All Hallows Eve we watched along with hundreds of fans as Big Joanie, Queen Zee and Sync favourites Dream Wife took to the stage of the famous KOKO to bring Dream Wife’s headline tour to an end. Can you name a better way to spend your Halloween?
The punk trio is made up of Rakel Mjöll on lead vocals, Alice Go on guitar and Bella Podpadec on bass, but honestly, if they need someone to play a triangle badly I’d happily be the fourth member.
Bouncing onstage to Sophie Ellis Baxtor’s Murder on the Dancefloor, Dream Wife were welcomed by the roar of the crowd. Inbetween dancing around a makeshift pentagram and under Rakel’s suspended ‘children’, Dream Wife thanked everyone for supporting them. Not just for the support for their art but for their message of Bad Bitches supporting Bad Bitches.
It’s rare to find an all female band dripping with attitude that is able to get the whole of the venue to scream “I am not my body, I am somebody” in unison, but Dream Wife certainly achieve a sense of empowerment and belonging like no others.
