Days after Coasts‘ final show and we’re still obsessively listening to their first album.
Earlier this year, the English band told beloved fans that after ten strong years, the band had made the difficult decision to explore new avenues. To end the Coasts era on a high, the band embarked on their ten-date Farewell Tour and ultimately ended their final tour on the stage at the o2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in front of an adoring crowd. Lead singer, Chris Caines thanked fans for the turning out to see them one last time and for coming to celebrate with them. And boy did we celebrate!
With Reading four-piece Only The Poets opening the night up, it became clear that we weren’t just saying farewell to Coasts but a big fat hello to a new band. The lads of Only The Poets proved they belonged on that stage as they immediately got the crowd dancing to their opening song Dead Young.
The dance party didn’t stop there. The ground shook as Coasts walked onto the stage and kicked off their final show with Tonight and continued throughout the set, covering songs from both of their studio albums. Closing the night – and a ten year run – with the band’s most popular song Oceans, before reality kicked in.
