Here’s a piece of finely-crafted beauty from Paris-based collective Nouvelle Vague. Ahead of the release on 15 February of their Rarities LP (made up of bonuses and B-sides from across their 15-year career), they’ve released a video to the lead track, a cover of New Order’s Bizarre Love Triangle.
The group – led by Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux – have carved a reputation for beautifully reinvented covers and will be touring this year with a stripped-back approach that takes them back to their initial roots, based around an acoustic guitar, a few keyboards, plenty of ambience, and two singers (Mélanie Pain, Elodie Frégé, or Phoebe Killdeer), who interpret the band’s iconic songs.
They’ll be following up the Rarities release with a new album, Curiosities, on 22 April, consisting of 12 tracks that have remained under wraps since the band’s very early days.
Catch their magical live show during April when they tour the UK with dates in Margate (20/4), Cambridge (21), London (22 + 23), Glasgow (25), Edinburgh (26), Gateshead (27) and Manchester (28). Tickets here.
