No stranger to Sync‘s pixels, Lauran Hibberd has been flinging music out like she has an abundance of it up her sleeve… which she clearly does. All of it good.

New tune Hoochie – out today – is no exception. Humorous, infections and charismatic in equal measure, the Isle of Wight-based singer-songwriter has a distinctive style that significantly sets her apart from the rest of the indie crowd. She’s also been busy building up her own fanbase through a series of headline shows plus a recent support slot with US indie rockers Hippo Campus. Her biggest headline shows to date are upcoming in May (dates/tickets here), followed by festival appearances this summer including Live At Leeds, Hit the North, plus a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury.

Of the new song, Hibberd said: “‘Hoochie’ is a 90’s slang term for a bit of a ‘loose’ woman. It’s also the name of my new hamster. For me, this track is kind of that three-month period, after you’ve stopped hanging out with someone and you realise that actually they were kind of a tool, and that maybe you are alright.

“I think there’s a confidence in this track lyrically that I’m yet to filter through to my actual life. I’m looking forward to that happening.”
